Florida’s year-round sun and warmth is what makes it the ideal getaway no matter what time of year you’re looking to get away. It also means virtually pristine weather and conditions for a getaway with the one you call dad this Father’s Day. You’ll enjoy time on the beach, as well as a myriad of other Rosemary Beach activities dad will love.
Coastal Biplane
Take dad up, up, and away on an unforgettable adventure. The Coastal Biplane, known to locals as the Spirit of 30A, was built in 2010. Despite being less than two decades old, the craft’s design reflects the look and feel of a classic 1930s biplane aircraft design. The Ferrari-red colored open cockpit design of the Waco YMF-5 biplane seats the pilot as well as two side-by-side passengers – perfect for a cruise with dad. Look down and catch glimpses of land and sea, and the life that lives below the waves as well as on land. Opt for a short 20-minute cruise or choose one of their packages that offer time in the sky.
Beach & Water Rosemary Beach Activities
Whether your Rosemary Beach trip is just for the Father’s Day weekend, or a little longer, spending time at Rosemary Beach and many of 30A’s other beautiful beaches with dad is a top priority. Pack up the cooler and your beach gear and prepare for fun on land or sea.
Get some sun on the beach or take a walk with loved ones. Take a dip in the Gulf or take a lesson or rent some gear for activities like stand up paddleboarding or kayaking. You can even take a ride on horseback down the beach. If dad’s an angler, he’ll want to make time to cast a line, too.
Dune Lakes
Florida is one of only two states in the U.S. and five total places around the world where coastal dunes are a natural geographic feature. The resulting dune lakes are usually shallow, irregularly shaped permanent bodies of water. The brackish, dark-colored water is due to the mix of salt and freshwater sources that feed it.
Rent a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard for some fun on the water, purchase a combo freshwater/saltwater fishing license, or just relax and enjoy the day with dad on the shoreline.
Hiking
Rosemary Beach and the rest of the 30A area is dotted with state parks and hiking trails that provide hours of outdoor fun. If dad’s an outdoorsman, pack your sun gear, water, and trail snacks and head out to experience the land-based natural beauty found along 30A. While you’re exploring, keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife like black bear, coyotes, deer, and osprey.
Snorkel and SCUBA Tours
The glistening and gleaming waters of the Gulf of Mexico are an underwater wonderland to explore. Tap one of the many companies, some with bases in Rosemary Beach, along 30A for tours that extend nature and wildlife viewing below the waters of the Gulf. Get close to bottlenose dolphins, sharks, manatees, rays, sea turtles and a never-ending variety of fish species. Ask about daytime or sunset tours, as well as gear rental.
SCUBA diving on your own outside of an organized tour requires certification. Ask your guide about help with certification if dad wants to attempt any dives outside the scheduled tour.
Golf
Tell dad to pack his golf clubs. The towns of 30A aren’t just a beach destination, they’re a golf destination, too. Camp Creek is located in Watersound and is a par-72, 7,200-yard course designed by famed golf architect Tom Fazio.
He may also want to schedule a tee time at Santa Rose Golf & Beach Club. Not only is it great golfing, the course includes stunning views of the Gulf. The course is referred to as the “Purest Golf in the Florida Panhandle,” and was built by golf architect Roy Albert Anderson. The par-72 course measures 6,700 yards.
Biking
The cozy beach towns of 30A, including Rosemary Beach, and the road that connects them is as easily navigated on two wheels as it is on four. Enjoy getting around 30A, as well as some extra exercise, and access to some of the nooks and crannies where your rental car can’t reach!
Many rental companies not only offer bikes for children and adults, but they also provide helmets. Ask about accessories like extra baskets, water bottles, and other items you have on your bike at home – they may be available for rent or purchase for the duration of your stay.
